I’m a big fan of webcomics, and perhaps one of my favorites would be XKCD. It’s difficult to determine whether or not the author has a strip of artistic talent in his bone, because the characters are just stick men, the kind you drew as a kid on question paper a whole 30 minutes before the end of an exam. But his strips are an amazing read. It’s geeky, romantic, funny, and sometimes just down right beautiful.
The artist comes from a mathematics background, so at times I wasn’t able to understand the joke. Nevermind, though, for that was part of its charm. There was no text for explanation, no blog post preceding it, just a few doodles here and there brought together into pure joy. It was just you, the comic, and all the ambiguity in between.
And then I found out that if you hovered the mouse over the comic, an alternate text would be shown.
Call it a quirk, but its hard to ever see the comic in the same light again.
